The Dordogne is a paradise for all lovers of wide open spaces, history, thrills, unusual visits and sports activities.

The Dordogne is known for being home to many exceptional villages, caves and chasms filled with stories dating from prehistoric times, prestigious castles and remarkable gardens. In addition, you can practice all kinds of outdoor activities, with family, friends or as a couple. We advise you to explore the most beautiful landscapes of the region by bike or on a hike (the GR461 passes very close to our establishment) and you can rent a bike from the Manoir d'Hautegente. To fill up with sensations, we meet you on the water or in the trees, to practice canoeing or tree climbing.

Fishing, swimming and walking The Coly river

Our domain is crossed by the pretty river Le Coly. This 1st category watercourse is populated with brown trout, pike, minnows and crayfish. The city of Sarlat is known to have the highest density of listed historical monuments. It is located just 20 kilometers from our charming hotel in the Dordogne. Stroll along the medieval cobbled streets and discover all the points of interest of the city: the panoramic lift to gain height, the covered market of the old Sainte-Marie Church to taste the local gastronomy and the medieval quarter to take a trip back in time.

Ranked among "the most beautiful villages in France" Saint-Amand-de-Coly

Just 5 kilometers from the hotel, discover the village of Saint-Amand de Coly. Stroll through the alleys of the city center to observe the most beautiful monuments of the small town. Do not miss the fortified abbey dating from the 12th century, we particularly recommend that you take the audio guided tour. Walk around the city to discover the ocher houses with slate roofs, typical architecture of the Périgord Noir.

In the Vézère Valley Montignac

Nestled at the foot of the Lascaux hill, the village of Montignac is a must in the Périgord noir and the Dordogne. Montignac has been occupied by humans since the Paleolithic. You have to get lost in the alleys of the city center to observe the beautiful residences dating from the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, but also the wash houses and the fountains. During the beautiful summer evenings, night tours of the city are organized, reserve your place.

A medieval village Saint-Léon sur Vézère

Located in a loop of the Vézère river, between Montignac and Les Eyzies, Saint-Léon sur Vézère is classified among the “most beautiful villages in France”. You will be seduced by its authenticity and its historical heritage. Strolling through the maze of narrow streets, discover its Romanesque church dating from the 12th century, the Château de Clérans in the middle of the village and the Manoir de la Salle.

Perfect reproduction Lascaux IV

Located 15 km from our prestigious hotel in the Dordogne, the Lascaux IV cave is an exact reproduction, down to the millimeter, of the original cave. On a course of more than 2 hours, survey this exceptional cave. The original cave is not open to the public and is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

World capital of prehistory Les Eyzies

The village is a succession of caves and prehistoric sites. The unmissable place of the city remains the National Museum of Prehistory built in 1918 on a prehistoric site. We advise you too little to discover all the beauties of the city: the Combarelles cave, the Font-de-Gaume cave, the Abri Pataud, the Abri de Cro-Magnon and the Abri du Poisson.

The medieval fortress Castelnaud castle

Joséphine Baker's Castle The Milandes

15 kilometers from our hotel with restaurant in the Dordogne, discover the Château Les Milandes. Built in 1489, this castle, located in Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, welcomed the lords of Caumont, but it is best known for having been the home of the famous singer Joséphine Baker, in 1947. Many shows are organized there, you do not especially miss the famous spectacle of raptors.

In the small town of Salignac-Eyvigues, discover the Jardin Eyrignac. On more than 200 hectares, discover typical French gardens. One of the most beautiful romantic gardens The hanging gardens of Marqueyssac

35 kilometers from the Manoir d'Hautegente, discover the hanging gardens of Marqueyssac, a 22 hectare landscaped park. A 6-kilometer walk will allow you to discover all the beauties of the garden such as the 150,000 century-old hand-cut box trees, belvederes, waterfalls, rock gardens and green theaters. You will get one of the best viewpoints over the Dordogne Valley.

Approach the center of the Earth Padirac chasm

With family, friends or as a couple, take an incredible underground and unusual adventure in the abyss of Padirac. Walk after walk, descend into the bowels of the Earth, into this abyss 35 meters in diameter and 75 meters deep. You can visit the kilometer of galleries open to the public and take the course on the underground river of Padirac thanks to a boat.
